Finally another post...

Well, I guess its been a while. I have not been regular with my blog and for that I apologize. The orchestra is leaving for VMEA tomorrow, so that should be fun. We have been playing this program all semester so if we don't do well... I have been watching Stargate: Atlantis a lot this week. I forgot how much I enjoyed it so now I have to go and buy season 4 and watch it on a regular basis. I had a really good lesson today, I played the first movement of the Haydn concerto, Fetes, a little of the Firebird, Ballerinas dance from petrouchka, and the opening of Mahler Symphony no. 5. Thats about it for now.

Well, today sure was a fun-packed day. My Music Administration and Management mid-term was the study guide with "study guide" crossed out in sharpie. My group in flute/clarinet class is playing Though Philomena Lost Her Love, by Thomas Morely for our class recital next week. That should be exciting. My EDUC 301 professor did not show up to class this evening so I went and practiced instead. All in all, a good day. Tomorrow should be fun, orchestra, lesson, Beethoven 5 reading session!!!

James if you read this, you said you wanted a picture of you playing. I can email it to you if you want.

Sorry for the delay

I apologize for not updating my blog in two weeks. I am sure everyone is on the edge of their seat waiting for me to speak about my adventures. A few things have happened since the last time I posted. For one, there were a bunch of concerts. I had a Wind Symphony concert a week and a half ago, we split a concert with the City of Alexandria Band. I thought the concert went well. We then combined bands, which was huge[there were 21 trumpet players!!!!]. I know what horn players feel like now, because I had 11 trumpets in a row behind me. The next concert was the orchestra concert we played Symphonic Fanfare by Mark Camphouse, Celebrations by Vincent Oppido, Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5, and The Firebird[suite]. That also had a few issues here and there but I thought it was a emotional and successful performance. Tomorrow night we have a Wind Symphony concert which should go well.
Kevin, Kaitlyn and I also saw Lewis Black live which was awesome! I have always liked Lewis Black and I never saw a comedian live. It was very funny. I also had some pumpkin pie, which is my favorite pie ever! So all and all its been good so far. I will do my best to keep up the posts.

Corn Maize 2008

This past Saturday was the 3rd Annual Corn Maize. My freshman year of college Jen Miller had the idea of getting a bunch of us music majors together and going to a corn maize in The Plains, Virginia. It was a great idea and a whole bunch of us went and have made it a annual tradition ever since. This year we went at night. It was very difficult to see but it was a lot of fun. There were 3 groups that went into the maze. My group had Dan Hill, Robby Carroll, Katherine Kane, Ryan Shumway, and myself. Every group that goes into the maze gets a flag in case they want help from the Corn Cops. We were determined to not get help. We made it a race and set up rules, no stopping and no looking at clues. We went in and ended up back at the beginning. From here on out we were going around in circles. Dan walked into the tape line because it looked like it was part of the maze and passed that spot 6 times throughout the course of the maze. We passed the beginning no less than 4 times. It took us about 1.5 hours to get out of the maze and came in last place. I will attach some photos and video I took while in the maze. It was a great evening, beautiful night and another successful corn maize.

Finally Blogging

Well, I took the advice of my roomates Kevin and Mike, and I made a blog. We will see if anyone finds it interesting because I am not quite sure I will. I guess I will introduce myself to those of you that do not know me[although if you are reading this, you probably already do]. I am a music education major at George Mason University, I play trumpet. Thats really it. I will elaborate more on who I am as I post[providied I keep up with it].
